A boat operator is facing Boating While Intoxicated charges after striking a rock bluff at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports 5 young people--all from Kansas--were in the boat when it crashed just after 12 a.m. Saturday.

Troopers say 22 year-old Hayden Frazier of Overland Park was piloting the vessel when it struck the rock bluff. Frazier and two occupants—23 year-old Joseph Lemark of Overland Park and 21 year-old Hailey Hochanadel of Olathe were thrown into the water. Frazier had moderate injuries but was able to reenter the boat and paddle to a dock across the channel. Lemark and Hochanadel were pronounced dead at the scene after their bodies were recovered.

The third fatality was 24 year-old Daniel Lewis of Overland Park, who was pronounced dead within the boat.

A fourth passenger-- 21 year-old Ashley Lamb of Olathe-- sustained serious injuries and was flown to a Springfield hospital.
