The Hannibal Arts Council has announced a call for entries for a very different kind of art contest. Winners of the upcoming 'Art in the Open' competition will have their work featured on a series of billboards around the area.

According to the Hannibal Arts Council, five winners will be selected in the competition, which is open to professional and non-professional artists, 18 and older, living within a 50 mile radius of Hannibal.

"The goal of the project is to capture the creative spirit all art forms represent. Area artists, artisans, craftsmen, photographers, writers, actors, dancers and performers are encouraged to review the guidelines to learn how to participate."

Full submission guidelines are available online. Artists will be allowed to enter up to two pieces of artwork for consideration by emailing images to the Hannibal Arts Council. There is a $20 entry fee that must be paid by June 1.
