Quincy Police report issuing 28 seat belt citations during the St. Patrick’s Day traffic enforcement period.
Police say 20 of those citations were issued during nighttime hours and they report no DUI arrests. Quincy Police joined with other state and local law enforcement agencies in the Illinois St. Patrick’s Day crackdown. The extra enforcement was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign.

Deputy Chief Doug Vandermaiden says…”Because of the efforts of our community leaders to spread the word about drunk driving, the streets were a little safer during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
