The Hannibal Arts Council Children’s Program Committee kicks of its 2013 First Friday Art Adventure series on February 1. First Friday Art Adventures, monthly hands-on workshops for children ages 6 to 12, feature a different theme each month. The February theme is Light Hearted Art and will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main Street. First Friday Art Adventures are sponsored by the Hannibal Arts Council and the George H. Riedel Private Foundation.

For Light Hearted Art, participants will create a Valentine’s Day Votive using a glass container, tissue paper and glue and use a cut stalk of celery to create a one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Day card. The HAC Children’s Program Committee also works to create snacks which fit each particular month’s project theme.  The February snacks will be cheese-filled celery sticks and chocolate candies.

The cost for the program is $10 per child for the general public and $5 per child for HAC members. Registration is required. To register, contact the Hannibal Arts Council at 573-221-6545 or kerrieo@hannibalarts.com.
