Some Republicans in the Missouri House say a veto override appears likely for a high-profile gun bill, but the odds remain uncertain for a tax-cutting measure after a meeting of GOP lawmakers.
Illinois has become the final state in the nation to allow people to carry concealed guns in public. State lawmakers have voted to override Governor Pat Quinn's veto of the legislation. Quinn had suggested changes to the measure and Senate President John Cullerton says the limits the governor recommended might be considered later.
Governor Pat Quinn has used his veto power to tweak the state's concealed carry measure. His changes limit the number of guns and bullets people can carry and ban guns from places where alcohol is served. Illinois faces a July 9th deadline for legalizing concealed carry. Lawmakers could still vote to override Quinn's changes.
