Drive-in theaters

Missouri needs more drive-in movie theaters, not less. Sadly, the oldest outdoor screen in the state was recently damaged by thunderstorms and now may close for good unless repairs or replacement can be made.

I am an unapologetic fan of drive-in movie theaters. I miss the days when they were a common part of our communities. But, I'm realistic and understand not many have survived. That being said, here are the Missouri and Illinois drive-in movie theaters that appear to have plans to open in 2023.

Technology may have pushed some of these outdoor cinemas to the brink, but the passion of movie fans has proven greater in some parts of Missouri as I've learned of two more drive-in theaters that have stood the test of time.

It's easy spending other people's money. With that disclaimer out of the way, I think I know the perfect location for a drive-in theater in Hannibal and I believe a fortune could be made if someone could make it happen.
