Despite popular belief, I was NOT around when Abraham Lincoln became President of the United States. However, there is one home in Hannibal that predates Abe taking the Oath of Office. It's a big blue house on Center Street and it was built before President Lincoln was President Lincoln.

Hannibal firefighters were called to the foot of Center Street shortly before 9:45 a.m. Friday.

Hannibal Police say that a "significant amount" of heroin and crack cocaine was seized during a raid in the 1200 block of Center Street on March 27, leading to the arrests of two St. Louis men.

Center Street in Hannibal is closed because of structural problems in the steeple at First Presbyterian Church at 6th and Center. Hannibal City officials say an inspection of the leaning steeple Thursday resulted in its condemnation after it was found that timbers in the steeple were rotted and damaged by the recent wind storm. Center is barricaded and caution tape is in place around the building.
