Bakeries

You can find all sorts of desserts at Orland Park Bakery in Illinois, but there's one item they whip up that's to die for.

I have never met a bakery that I didn't like. However, there are some better than others. A group of national experts recently put together a list of the 19 bakeries in America that they think have risen above the rest and one is a brother and sister bakery in Illinois.

Their milk chocolate chip cookies are to die for. If that sounds over-dramatic to you, you probably haven't had one of their cookies. The reason for my excitement is I've just learned they're opening a brand new Illinois location next week and I'm hoping that means there are more to come.

The fact that we have so many great local bakeries is no secret to those of us that grew up in the Quincy/Hannibal area. However, it's still awesome when one of them gets some national recognition which is what just happened for one Quincy bakery.

This is sadly a sign of the times that is becoming way too common for many businesses. A Missouri bakery has announced they will be closing after 27 years to due the limitations of available workforce and rising costs to do business.
