Quincy fire crews were busy over the Christmas weekend.

Quincy Fire and Police respond to a vehicle fire at 3012 Lindell Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials report the owner of the car tried to start the vehicle after it had been sitting for a while.

The driver told authorities he noticed smoke as he backed the car out of the garage.

The fire was contained to the car’s engine compartment.

There was no damage to the garage or the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was hurt.

 

Quincy fire crews respond to a structure fire at 1528 North 18th Street Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Fire Chief Steve Salrin reports firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the back of the house.

Salrin says he believes the fire started in the kitchen. Investigators have been called in to determine a cause.

The owners of the home were out of town. A caretaker and the owners’ pets were in the house at the time of the fire.

Everyone got out safely. The pets were treated for smoke inhalation.
