If there was one store I could bring back it would be Barrels N Bins. It was a kid's (and let's face it a parent's) favorite store to visit.

Barrels N Bins was set up like any other candy store; bins filled with all types of sweets lined the perimeter of the store. It was located on the east side of the mall across from Diamond Dave's and Waldenbooks (both of which have since departed).

Barrels N Bins a Kid's Dream Store

It was a kid's dream to step into that store. You could get anything your little sweet tooth desired. Sweet, sour, soft, hard, chocolate, lollipops...anything! I loved the table in the middle of the store where you could pick out ten pieces of candy for $1. I loved it.

Laffy Taffy, Airheads, lollipops, and all the goodies a kid could want. I remember walking in with a couple of bucks and sneaking my candy into the Quincy Mall movie theater. Don't judge me. You would have done it too.

But sadly, Barrel N Bins is no more. I'm not sure when it closed, but it sure is missed. Sure, you can get candy pretty much anywhere in town (grocery stores, drug stores, Walmart), but it's not quite the same as a good ol' fashioned candy store like Barrels N Bins.
