If you were to guess what dog is the most loved in history, what would you say? Lassie. Sorry, but that's unfortunately close but wrong. Benji? Nope. Not that one. I'll give you a hint. The most loved dog in history is in Missouri and he has his own memorial garden and mural.

If you don't already agree that Jim the Wonder Dog is the most loved dog in history, please allow me to try and convince you. For starters, Jim is THE official wonder dog of Missouri. The governor even said so. Jim's official website (of course he has his own official website being the most loved dog and all) says that Jim was a "Llewellyn setter born of pureblood champion field stock in Louisiana".

Jim the Wonder Dog became the best friend of Sam VanArsdale. Jim was no ordinary hunting dog. He was THE best hunting dog in America and there wasn't even a close 2nd. Outdoor Life even said in 1935 that Jim was "the hunting dog of America".

Legend says that Jim was so smart that when Sam told him to go sit down under a walnut tree, he did so without pause. Jim knew trees. Jim's official website says that he would even take commands in foreign languages. A multi-lingual mutt? Only Jim.

After Jim the Wonder Dog passed on to those hunting grounds in the sky in 1937, his grave quickly became one of the most visited in the state of Missouri.

Have I convinced you yet that Jim the Wonder Dog is the most loved dog in history? He is and you can even visit his memorial garden and mural in Marshall, Missouri. No dog has ever been Jim's equal. Sorry, Lassie.
