Sudden Mass Layoffs of St. Louis, Missouri Airport Shuttle Staff
This is not good news for any of us that depend on transportation to and from the St. Louis, Missouri airport as there's been a sudden mass layoff of airport shuttle staff.
The newest WARN notice just posted on the Missouri Jobs site shows an alarming number of shuttle drivers and staff that transport passengers to and from the St. Louis Lambert International Airport will be laid off effective July 1, 2025. It says that SP Plus, LLA, A Metropolis Company will be laying off 130 staff members on that date due to a loss of contract.
In a letter submitted to the state of Missouri by Metropolis, they state the following:
"The shuttle service contract between the Company and the St. Louis Lambert International Airport will not be renewed, thus prompting this notification. It is unknown if the new company awarded the contract will extend offers of employment to the current employees."
The press release goes on to say "a total of 130 employees will be impacted. We remain unsure if and when the Company will again staff its shuttle positions at the St. Louis Lambert International Airport."
I have not seen confirmation of what company will be taking over the shuttle service for St. Louis Lambert International Airport once the Metropolis contract is ended at the end of June.
