Here's a Facebook share from Saint Louis University a few days ago that threw off many in Missouri who were wondering what we all missed. In case you're wondering, there really was a 4.8 magnitude earthquake that caused this closure. As you might imagine, the comments on this post included many in Missouri that were alarmed that they somehow missed a major New Madrid seismic event.

When I see Saint Louis University, I immediately think St. Louis, Missouri. In this case, that's wrong. This Saint Louis University is in the Philippines where a 4.8 earthquake really did happen. What made this post more believable for those of us who live in Missouri is it's been an active week along the New Madrid Fault with several quakes large enough to feel. The good news is there have been no Missouri quakes so far in 2025 that have been larger than a 4 in magnitude - yet. For now, we can all calm down and resume our regular lives. You can be certain that if Missouri gets hit by a quake of this size, you'll be among the first to know it if you live in the Show Me State.
