Missouri Highway Patrol Already Handling 400+ Distress Calls
As a multi-wave winter storm has impacted the state today, the Missouri State Highway Patrol say they have already responded to more than 400 distress calls.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol just issued this storm update on their Facebook page as winter weather has caused many issues for travelers. They shared these numbers on their storm-related responses today:
- 412 Calls for Service
- 54 Stranded Motorists
- 63 Minor Crashes
- 11 Injury Crashes
- 1 Fatality Crash (Non-Weather Related)
In a follow-up post, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said that the 3 most common problems they're seeing today are drivers traveling too fast for conditions, commercial vehicles losing control and vehicles that are crowding snow plow trucks.
It's important to note that this winter storm isn't close to over. While the first wave of snow is still impacting Missouri, another is expected to begin later tonight continuing into Sunday morning bringing even more snow to the state and also ice in some places, too. This is a great weekend to avoid travel if you can to allow road crews the time they need to make roads safe again.
