You would think that having your diner featured on food celebrity Guy Fieri's TV show would be your ticket to the big time. Sadly, that's not always the case. Did you know there are at least 8 Missouri diners that Guy has featured that are now closed forever?

There's a website that keeps track of all the eateries that are featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives". It's Diners Drive-Ins and Dives Locations. It also tracks those restaurants featured on Guy's TV show that are now closed. I've noticed that their "closed" list is not accurate sometimes, so I've confirmed all of these myself using Yelp and Google Reviews. Here are the Missouri diners that are closed permanently:

Krokstrom Scandinavian Comfort Food - Kansas City

Blue Koi Noodles & Dumplings - Kansas City

Guerrilla Street Food - Saint Louis

Swagger Fine Spirits & Food - Kansas City

Smokin' Guns BBQ & Catering - North Kansas City

YJ's Snack Bar - Kansas City

Sweetie Pie's Soul Food - Saint Louis

Mama's 39th St Diner - Kansas City

I have no doubt that a vast majority of the Missouri restaurants featured on Guy's Food Network show have big boosts in business after their TV appearance. I've heard that Guy warns potential diners of the influx of new customers after their 15 minutes of fame. It's unfortunately not an automatic "golden ticket" as many of these Missouri eateries have faced dire challenges especially when public dining was forbidden beginning in early 2020.

If I had one wish for shows like this, it would be that Guy would venture outside of Saint Louis and Kansas City sometimes to feature some of the local establishments in Missouri small towns that oftentimes exceed the quality of the big city joints. Hey, I can dream.
