Man Over St. Louis Captures Tornadic Missouri Storm From a Plane
It's not unusual to see a tornado in Missouri, but it isn't every day that you see one from over Missouri when you're flying into St. Louis on a plane. That's exactly what happened to one man and he captured what he saw on video.
I'm not sure why so very few have seen this. It's probably because Eric Freeman only has a handful of subscribers on YouTube, but this video might change that. According to his brief description of his video share, he was flying into St. Louis earlier this year when he he learned there was a tornadic thunderstorm near his plane as they approached the city.
Check out this brief video showing all of the energy on display in this storm.
The Belleville News-Democrat confirmed there were indeed several tornadoes confirmed in the St. Louis area on the day in April that Eric captured video of this storm.
I'd love to know what altitude they were at when he captured this video. There's no vortex visible from the plane, but it's not surprising to know that this was a tornado-warned storm. Those anvil clouds were spiking tens of thousands of feet into the atmosphere, so this storm was packing a punch.
This reminds me of the crazy video Dan Robinson captured a decade ago showing an airliner flying through a tornado in St. Louis.
Can't say that I've ever seen a Missouri tornadic storm from this viewpoint before. Very cool that Eric took the time to capture it for all of us to check out.
