The City of Belton, Missouri shared video on their Facebook page which was captured by a security camera from their emergency management staff. What you'll see is a flash flood event that changed a walking tunnel from just barely water-covered to overwhelmed in less than an hour. Forbes shared it on their YouTube channel.

Fortunately, this flash flood event happened in the middle of the night, but can you imagine if you had insomnia and decided a late night/early morning stroll was a good idea? Anyone caught in those waters during that 40 to 50 minute period would have been swept up in life-threatening flood water. I can attest to the fact that water is more powerful than you think. I made the mistake of trying to wade across what I thought was a shallow river only to barely get out without being swept under. You might think you're invincible, but the truth is different than what you imagine.
