Ultra-Rare White Hummingbird Spotted in Missouri

You won't see one of these every day or maybe in your lifetime in Missouri. A member of the Birds of Missouri group just shared a picture of a rare albino hummingbird that just visited their feeder.

We have several feeders at our house in Missouri because my wife and kids love birds. We see the typical assortment of "regulars" which include cardinals, finches, sparrows, etc. Dean Whiteman just shared a picture of an albino hummingbird that visited his feeder in Hillsboro, Missouri.

How rare are albino hummingbirds?

A white hummingbird is exceptionally rare, with true albino sightings numbering fewer than 100 documented cases across North and South America. Most people will never see one in their lifetime and this one that just visited the feeder in Hillsboro, Missouri is like seeing a unicorn. These little birds are so elusive they're almost never caught on camera - until now.
