According to WalletHub.com's, 2023's Best & Worst States to Raise a Family list, the state of Illinois is the 13th best state in the country to raise a family. Illinois just missed out on the top 10, it ranks right behind Washington, and right in front of South Dakota. On the site they say...

"Raising a healthy, stable family sometimes requires moving to a new state...WalletHub compared the 50 states across 51 key indicators of family-friendliness. Our data set ranges from the median annual family income to housing affordability to the unemployment rate."

So what does Illinois do well that gives it such a high ranking? Well, they rank Illinois 4th in the country for Family fun behind only California, New York, and Texas. But Illinois also ranks well in the Affordability category, and the Education and Child Care category.

Which states are at the top of the list? Massachusetts is number one, followed by Minnesota and New York. The worst states? Mississippi, New Mexico, and West Virginia, to see the complete list for yourself just click here!
