The Black River south of the Mark Twain National Forest running down to Clearwater Lake gives you float trip on clear water with a rock bottom. It won’t smell like chlorine, but it’s clear and mostly shallow (depending upon rain).

There are places to camp and cabins to rent along the Black River’s length and there is also several Lodges to try should “roughing” it be too much.
