Many residents are still working to recover from the devastation left behind by Hurricane Helene, and one part of the recovery process is finding homes for rescued animals who survived the storm.

In a heartwarming turn, several puppies have made their way to Illinois in search of their forever homes. According to Yahoo News, 16 puppies arrived in Chicago from Asheville, North Carolina, one of the areas hardest hit by the hurricane.

Right now, all of the puppies are receiving care, attention, and plenty of love while waiting to be adopted.

Animal shelters in the hurricane-affected regions were hit particularly hard, with many shelters facing overwhelming numbers of animals needing care after the flooding. Shelters in mountain areas, like those in Asheville, are currently stretched to their limits.

If you’re looking to help but may not have room to adopt one of these adorable pups, financial donations to these animal shelters can make a big difference. Your contribution will go toward caring for the rescued animals and supporting the shelters as they work to find homes for these sweet puppies.

It's a small act of kindness that can have a huge impact on their recovery.
