It might be spooky-looking, but this once massive jail has been featured in a few classic movies and is now considered one of the most amazing abandoned places in America.

Old Joliet Prison

One of those national landmarks is in Illinois. Built in the 1850s and closing its doors in 2002, the Old Joelt Prison has been featured in shows and movies such as Prison Break and The Blues Brothers.

It once had 24 buildings and 25-foot tall walls to keep prisoners in. According to Love Exploring, this is the place to check out if you like exploring old buildings with tons of history and might be a bit haunted for those who can stomach those tours.
