Many travelers choose The Elms Hotel & Spa in Excelsior Springs, Missouri if they want a romantic getaway or a peaceful escape. Since 1888, its natural spring waters have drawn millions of visitors looking to unwind and rejuvenate.
History of the Healing Waters
The legend of these healing waters dates back to the 1880s when a local farmer’s daughter fell ill. Desperate for a cure, he sought help from the community. Locals suggested she drink and bathe in the Opal Spring water, and within weeks, she had fully recovered.

As word of the spring’s healing properties spread, more people flocked to the area to experience it for themselves. In 1912, a hotel was built to accommodate visitors, allowing them to stay longer and enjoy the natural spring waters.
