I’ve traveled to many towns and cities over the years. Some are welcoming, while others leave a lot to be desired. One local town, however, is now getting national recognition for its warm hospitality, and it’s right here in northeast Missouri.

For decades, people have traveled to Hannibal to learn about Mark Twain and his famous characters, attend popular seasonal festivals, experience National Tom Sawyer Days, and enjoy the many restaurants, boutiques, and specialty shops located throughout historic downtown Hannibal.

Those of us nearby may take Hannibal for granted because we can visit anytime, but it’s worth slowing down and truly exploring the city. No matter how many times I visit Hannibal, I’ve never seen a sad face. From tourists to lifelong residents, everyone seems drawn to the town’s friendly atmosphere. It’s no surprise that Hannibal continues to gain national attention as one of the most welcoming towns in Missouri.
