The Hannibal Cavemen sent the homefolks home happy with a 4-2 win over the Springfield Sliders at Clemens Field Wednesday night.

The Sliders scored first on a single, a sacrifice bunt, a throwing error and a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

The Cavemen tied it in the second on a single by Jeff Smith, a double by Jonathon Allison and a sacrifice fly by Dan Ferguson. The home team took the lead in the third as Christian Cavaness walked and stole second, went to third on a single by Brett Marr and scored on a sac fly by Brandon Bentson.

Springfield tied it in the sixth, but the Cavemen took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth. Damon Waller led off the inning with a single. He was sacrificed to second and scored on a base hit by Josh Griffith. Griffith scored on a single by Jonathon Allison.

Brendan Kleekamp was the winning pitcher with Justin Hertzman picking up the save.
