Disc Golfers Brave Elements to Compete in ‘Ice Bowl’
The ninth annual Ice Bowl disc golf tournament lived up to its name Saturday.
Despite cold, windy and snowy conditions, golfers from Missouri, Illinois and Iowa descended upon the Huckleberry Park course to compete for prizes and bragging rights, and to raise money for the Buddy Pack program.
The big winner was Wade Fisher of Quincy, who won two "closest to the pin" challenges.
The Ice Bowl tournament is sponsored by Hannibal Parks and Recreation, Domino's Pizza, Greenhouse Discs, MCP Disc and Discraft Discs.
The winners were:
Open Division: First, John Shaw, Ft. Madison, Iowa; Second, Ryan Mote, Quincy; Third, Myles Hummel, Quincy.
Intermediate Division: First, Gary Polkinghorne, O'Fallon; Second, Wade Fisher, Quincy, Third, John Shoemate, Ft. Madison.
Novice Division: First, C.J. Bothe, Hannibal; Second, Camron Lanterman, Hannibal.
Women's Division: First, Deb Polkinghorne, O'Fallon.
