The staff and students of St. James Lutheran School will be holding the Life is Sweet 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 29, 2019 with registration beginning at 7:15am. The run/walk will begin and end at St. James Lutheran School, 900 South 17th Street. The path will be lined with sweet candy decorations to motivate the runners. Each participant will receive a medal and a dessert treat provided by Spoonwave, the Yum Factory, and TCBY.  Registration fees will are $30. Q-Fest goes from the 28th to the 30th at Washington Park. A celebration of visual, musical, and culinary arts. Hands-on art for youth and adults. Juried art show and sale.

Benefit for Levi Stratman, 5 year old receiving treatment for leukemia at Children's Hospital in St. Louis. Food will be provide which includes maidrite, chips, veggies, cookie and drink for $10. Children 7 and under free. Raffle tickets sold the night of the event and prior to at First Christian Church 1415 Maine.

A Night at the Mouse Races! Our Lady of Good Success will be hosting 7 races with live action mice! Come and enjoy the next best thing to horse races! Advance tickets are $20, which includes entry to all the races, beer, wine, and soda. BBQ sandwiches by The Rebel Pig will be available for purchase. Must be 21 to enter.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church is sponsoring an Ice Cream Social at the Golden Community Building on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 4 pm -7 pm. Sandwiches of Barbecue, hot dogs, and chilly dogs, homemade ice cream.

Meals on Wheels is holding a Cook’s Night Off event on the third Thursday of the month throughout 2019. It’s a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program as they offer eat-in, carry-out, or drive thru meals for just $7 each.  All meals include either Fried Chicken or Roast Beef, two side dishes, bread and dessert.  The hours for each 3rd Thursday of each month are 4 to 6pm at the Senior Center at 639 York Street.
