A New Jersey woman who lost her dog in a Missouri wreck is getting the animal back, thanks to the kindness of strangers.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 57-year-old Mary Ellen Frazier was involved in an accident on Interstate 70 in St. Charles County on Sept. 9. She was in the process of moving to New Jersey from Alabama.

Frazier spent days in a hospital, then stayed in a hotel. Her biggest concern was that her golden retriever, Bailey, ran off after the wreck.

Last Friday, Cindy Kielty of St. Charles met Frazier, who told her about the dog. Kielty's husband, a former St. Charles City Council member, contacted St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano. Frazier learned Monday that St. Peters Animal Control officers found Bailey.
