Winter weather warnings and advisories remain in effect for the area this morning.

The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning in effect for Marion, Ralls and Pike counties in Missouri and Adams, Brown and Pike counties in Illinois until noon. Forecasters say snow will gradually diminish by midday, with additional accumulations of one to two inches this morning. The Hannibal Filter Plant reported six inches of snow on the ground at 5 this morning. The weather service says the warning area should wind up with a total of three to seven inches of snow.

Meanwhile, a Winter Weather Advisory runs until noon for the Missouri counties of Audrain, Knox, Lewis, Monroe and Shelby. Those areas are expected to get another inch of snow through midday, with a total of one to four inches.

Both the Missouri and Illinois Departments of Transportation report main roads in northeast Missouri and western Illinois are snow and ice covered this morning.

Also, MODOT announced the closing of Marion County Route H due to weather conditions.
