The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for a portion of northeast Missouri and western Illinois for the weekend.

In Missouri, the watch has been posted for Audrain, Knox, Lewis, Lincoln, Marion, Monroe, Pike and Ralls and Shelby counties from noon Friday until midnight Sunday.

On the Illinois side, Adams, Brown, Calhoun and Pike counties' watch runs from 6 p.m. Friday until midnight Sunday.

Forecasters are saying that the affected area should expect from 5 to 7 inches of snow for the weekend, with the possibility of sleet also falling in Pike and Ralls counties in Missouri.

Motorists can expect hazardous travel conditions beginning late Friday and continuing through the weekend.
