A winter storm system dumped a healthy coating of the white stuff on northeast Missouri and western Illinois Friday night and Saturday morning.

Snowfall totals from the National Weather Service range from four inches in the New London area to five inches in Pittsfield to six inches at the Hannibal Filter Plant to six-and-a-half inches in Louisiana to seven inches of snow in Payson.

At midday Saturday, MODOT reported Highway 36 from Hannibal to Macon and 61 from New London to Canton were snow covered, while 61 from New London south and Highway 54 in Pike County, Missouri were partly covered.

In Illinois, main highways in Adams and Brown County were described by IDOT as having snow and ice patches, while Pike County main roads were snow covered.
