A portion of western Illinois and most of northeast Missouri is under a Wind Advisory Monday.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters say winds will strengthen late this morning and continue throughout the afternoon hours. Winds are expected to ease up a bit after sunset.

South winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 mph are expected.

The weather service says winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles on east-west roads. These winds can also lift and move trash cans, lawn furniture and other loose outdoor objects. Minor tree and building damage is also possible.
