A well being check in Hannibal leads to the arrest of a Hannibal man on several charges.
Hannibal Police were called to the 600 block of North Hawkins at 7:59 Thursday evening to check the well being of an individual possibly under the influence of a controlled substance. Officers found 28-year-old Tyler Garrett unresponsive in the residence along with items suggesting use of controlled substances. Police say that a controlled substance was found during a search and that Garrett became irate and attempted to destroy physical evidence. Garrett was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital for evaluation. While officers were on scene, the 911 center received a call about a vehicle in the woods nearby off Bell Avenue. The vehicle was located and another call reported a stolen vehicle in the 500 block of North Hawkins. That vehicle was located nearby. Witness statements indicate that Garrett stole the vehicle.

Charges against Garrett include endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with physical evidence, tampering with a motor vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance. Garrett was taken to the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold.
