The Missouri Department of Transportation’s project to replace the Highway 168 bridge at Palmyra results in the closing of Highway 61 and 24 in Palmyra this weekend.

In order to remove the existing bridge and overpass, all lanes of 61 and 24 will be closed from 1 a.m. Sunday until 1 a.m. Monday.

After that, at least one lane of traffic will be open in each direction on 61 and 24 until the project is complete.

If you’re traveling in Pike County, Illinois this weekend, be advised of possible detours at the Illinois River.

The Illinois Department of Transportation reports that the bridge that takes Highways 106 and 100 across the Illinois River at Florence is closed from 6 a.m. Saturday until 8 p.m. Sunday.

The bridge is closed so that repair work can be done.

You can detour around the bridge by using I-72 and Highway 54 and 100.
