This first official week of winter is forecast to start off wet, with a slight chance of white Christmas in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters say Monday and Monday night will be rainy. Then, after a mostly cloudy Tuesday, there are slight chances of rain and snow Tuesday night and snow Christmas Eve. Sunshine is predicted to revisit the area from Thursday through Sunday.

Temperatures will be seasonal through the week. With the exception of Wednesday, highs are expected to top out in the 40s through Friday. Highs will drop into the low to mid 30s for the weekend.

Lows start the week in the 30s, dropping to the 20s Friday night.
