The weather week ahead features an almost daily chance of rain and the return of triple-digit heat indexes in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters say that, with the exception of Wednesday night and Thursday, the chances of showers and thunderstorms range from 20 to 50 percent through Sunday.

The best chances of rain are Monday, Monday night and Tuesday, and then again Friday night. Heaviest rainfall amounts at the beginning of the week are expected in Mid-Missouri.

Meanwhile, after a high in the mid 80s Monday, temperatures in the low to mid 90s are predicted Tuesday through Friday, with heat index readings over 100 a possibility. Highs will drop to the mid 80s for the weekend.

Lows for the week will range from the low to mid 70s.
