After a nice Saturday and a cold and blustery Sunday, the first week of December is expected to be cold and perhaps icy in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters call for mostly clear and cold conditions through midweek. Highs will get to only 26 Monday, then begin a slow rise to 37 Tuesday and 40 Wednesday. Lows drop to the mid-teens Monday night, and to the mid-20s Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Forecasters are calling for a slight chance of rain and freezing rain Thursday through Friday night. As of Monday morning, no advisories had been issued, and chances of precipitation were running from 20 to 30 percent. Daytime highs Thursday and Friday will range from 36 to 42, with lows hovering around freezing.

The weekend should be better, with a slight chance of rain Sunday, and highs moving toward the upper 40s, and lows in the mid-30s.
