A Hannibal man is in the Marion County Jail after officers allegedly discovered weapons and items related to drug sales in a Hannibal residence on June 8.

Responding to a shots fired call, officers executed a search warrant and discovered several guns including an AK-47 style rifle, AR-15s, shotguns, and pistols as well as more than $25,000 in cash.

The suspect, James Tobias of Hannibal, faces several felony charges. According to a release, Tobias admitted to firing a gun from a moving truck, but no one was injured.

“My office is taking the matter very seriously,” Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton says. “…and will seek, in addition to criminal prosecution of the defendant, also forefeiture of the over $25,000 cash allegedly recovered from the scene. This money would directly benefit our local schools.”
