The Hannibal Arts Council Children’s Program Committee continues its 2013 First Friday Art Adventure series with Wax On-Wax Off.  The April workshop will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main St. First Friday Art Adventures, monthly hands-on workshops for children ages 6 to 12, feature a different theme each month.  First Friday Art Adventures are sponsored by the Hannibal Arts Council, George H. Riedel Private Foundation and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

For Wax On-Wax Off project, participants will create a pieces of art that has been created by implementing a wax resist technique similar to the process used in the ancient art medium known as Batik. Local Hannibal High School Art Department Instructor, Susan Friesen, will introduce the kids to the batik medium and lead them in the process of using the resist method to create their own batik.

The cost for the program is $10 per child for the general public and $5 per child for HAC members. Registration is required.  To register, contact the Hannibal Arts Council at 573-221-6545 or kerrieo@hannibalarts.com.
