July 23 – 27, the Hannibal Arts Council will host a Visual Arts Camp for kids between the ages of 13 – 16.

The theme of the camp is ‘Urban Influence,’ and participants will have an opportunity to work alongside local artists in creating art to be shared with others, and to express themselves creatively. Pottery, printmaking, encaustic and mural design are a few of the art forms students will have access to.

Michael Gaines, Executive Director of the Hannibal Arts Council, says the organization is looking forward to the camp. “The Children’s committee is always wanting to do things to expand the age range beyond our current children’s programming, which only goes up to age 12. Through the Urban Art Camp we’re able to reach younger teenagers.”

Gaines says that a couple of students who participated in the Hannibal Arts Council’s first art camp, two years ago, have already signed up to be a part of the program this year.

Participation in the Urban Influence Art Camp is limited to 20 students, and the cost is $50. Scholarships are available upon request. Campers will meet between 9 am and 11:30am July 23 – 27 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 South Main. For more information, call 573-221-6545.
