Victim in Train-Truck Crash Identified as 38-Year-Old Man

Authorities have identified a man who died after a train struck his vehicle at a crossing in the southwestern Illinois village of Pierron.

The Madison County coroner's office identified the victim Friday as 38-year-old Jonathan M. Schrage of the nearby city of Breese. He died of multiple injuries Thursday afternoon.

Policy say he drove his pickup truck around lowered gates at the crossing. A southbound freight train hit the truck. CSX spokeswoman Kristin Seay says the train was heading from Cleveland to East St. Louis with eight cars of mixed freight.
