You might say the news struck close to home again Friday evening.
Shortly after 7 p.m., two cars collided at the snow-covered intersection of 3rd and Center Streets in Hannibal. The impact caused one of the cars to run onto the sidewalk, striking the corner of the KHMO building, about 20 feet from where I was sitting.

The accident reportedly occurred when the driver of a car heading westbound on Center Street collided with a car traveling southbound on Third Street. Neither driver reported any injuries, but both vehicles were towed from the scene.

There was no apparent damage to the rock facade of the KHMO building.
It’s not the first time KHMO has endured a vehicle strike. Last July, a pickup stuck the same corner after the driver suffered a medical emergency.

Traffic crashes in Hannibal began shortly after 4 p.m. Friday; almost as soon as the snow began flying. According to scanner traffic, police and fire personnel worked crashes on the Mark Twain Bridge, McMasters Avenue, Ely Street, and Broadway near the Muffler Shop.
