(Carthage, Il)—Carthage Police continue to investigate an accident involving a van that struck 9 people in the Illini West High School parking lot last night around 9:45 p.m. Officers say 71 year-old Beverly Lovell of Burnside, apparently suffered shortness of breath and lost control of her van, spinning around 3 times as she struck the pedestrians who were exiting after the football game. One woman sustained serious injuries and was first taken by Air Evac to Blessing Hospital, before being transferred to Peoria. The driver was transported to Carthage Memorial Hospital. Most of the remaining injured are believed to have suffered minor injuries.
