Just two Missouri motorists lost their lives in traffic crashes over the New Year’s holiday weekend.

In a press release, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports troopers investigated 220 crashes, which resulted in 84 injuries and two fatalities.

Neither of those fatalities occurred in northeast Missouri.

In addition, troopers made 103 DWI arrest and 67 drug arrests during the reporting period.

This year’s two deaths compares to seven fatalities during the 2016 New Year’s weekend.

This year’s reporting period ran from 6 p.m. Friday through midnight Monday.
