A collision involving an SUV and a train results in serious injuries for a Vandalia woman and a passenger.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by 46 year old Melissa Hodde of Vandalia pulled into the path of a westbound freight train on an Audrain County road near US 54 at 11:15 Tuesday morning. Troopers say Hodde and a passenger—37 year old Stephanie Stevens of West Plains were thrown from the SUV following impact. Hodde and Stevens were flown to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
