Two area homes were destroyed by fire on Wednesday.

Firefighters were called to a mobile home on Tonga Drive near 36th and Maine in Quincy about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Quincy Fire Chief Joe Henning says smoke was pouring from the trailer when crews arrived. The blaze was apparently caused by a portable heater that had been used to keep pipes under the trailer from freezing.

At about 12:15 p.m., firefighters were called to a house fire in Timewell. The home belongs to Timewell Village Board member Jerry Allen. Witnesses described the home as almost completely destroyed.

A cause for that fire is unknown.

There were no injuries reported in either fire.
