A mother and daughter died when their car was involved in an eight-vehicle accident near Lake Ozark in central Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 54 in Miller County when a semi-trailer truck rear-ended a car, which caused a chain reaction involving the other vehicles.

The victims, 50-year-old Robin Dinwiddle and her daughter, 27-year-old Kenda O'Leary, both of Eldon, died at the scene. Their car was rear-ended by the semi-trailer truck.

Four other people, including the truck driver, were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Patrol spokesman Cpl. Scott White says the truck driver, a 62-year-old from Illinois, was arrested and faces two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of careless and imprudent driving.
