Cook County officials say the two people whose burned bodies were found in a trunk were a woman in her 70s and her daughter, who was in her 50s.

The sheriff's department says the names of the Chicago women aren't being released. The investigation into their deaths is ongoing.

The two had been strangled. Their deaths have been ruled homicides following autopsies on Sunday.

Authorities say the bodies were found late Saturday inside a burning PT Cruiser. It was parked a suburban Cook County forest preserve in Palos Heights.
