A couple of long time northeast Missouri mayors have announced their intention to run for state representative next year.

Last week, Monroe City Mayor Neal Minor announced he will run for the Republican nomination for 5th District State Representative.

Minor, who is in the fifth term as mayor, announced he will not run for reelection for mayor next year so he can concentrate on the race for state rep.

Earlier this month, six-term Palmyra Mayor Loren Graham announced he would also be a candidate to replace Lindell Shumake in the Missouri House.

Shumake cannot run for reelection because of term limits. He has announced that he will run for the state senate next year, to replace Senator Brian Munzlinger, who also will be term limited out next year.
