A Monroe City police officer involved in a shooting incident earlier this year receives a statewide award.

23 year old officer Travis Pugh gets the State of Missouri Police Officer of the Year Award at a conference Monday.

Last January 13th, Pugh was involved in an incident in Monroe City in which he was wounded during a traffic stop. Pugh pulled over Timothy Brokes, who had shot two people earlier in the day, killing one of them.
Brokes was also wounded in the encounter.

Pugh has been a member of the Monroe City Police Department since March of 2014.
